As I was searching for a shower curtain for a friend I stumbled across a few that I loved so I ordered three; two for me and one for my friend. When the shower curtains arrived I realized that as much as I loved them I had to consider my husband and how he would he feel about having the bathrooms extremely feminine so I asked him “Would you mind if this was in the bathroom?” He said “Yes!” I would then follow up with “What about this one?” He would get silent so I knew that was a NO! I had two shower curtains that I wouldn’t be able to hang but I paid a nice bit of change and I wasn’t going to give them away so in a box they went.
Several months have gone by and I really hadn’t thought about the shower curtains any more until I was following along in a Facebook group and everyone was doing reverse canvas; that’s when it hit me, you can make this into wall art!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSXeJIx2M2jc-P_jGCAtQ050p-89NX4I1D677r4clI2-aPlyUS_ObcrvEMPgDT3Hx45xYL2BAoLU-wlJ_gx9OGbyaIYJl9sre2cY8_fB5eKyX9tB7J-fz7Um4U0jdWdy8Zsbi9MTCjIoI/s1600/canvas.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSXeJIx2M2jc-P_jGCAtQ050p-89NX4I1D677r4clI2-aPlyUS_ObcrvEMPgDT3Hx45xYL2BAoLU-wlJ_gx9OGbyaIYJl9sre2cY8_fB5eKyX9tB7J-fz7Um4U0jdWdy8Zsbi9MTCjIoI/s320/canvas.jpg" width="240" height="320" data-original-width="1100" data-original-height="1467" /></a></div>
I jump in my car, head to Michael’s and purchase the largest canvas they sell; 48×60, at 50% off. So, here I am, super excited and I walk to my car only to realize that it’s not going to fit. Defeated, I head back in to return the canvas. Days go by and I can’t think of one person that has a truck…Not one! Friday rolls around and now Michael’s has 70% off all canvas and now I NEED IT! I put out a call on FB, asking if anyone that had a truck would pick up two huge canvas for me and I would pay them for time and travel. My former supervisor said make sure it’s in stock and I will drop it to you.
Almost one week later we get snow in the DC area and we have a snow day. Yay! I push the table out of my may, drag the canvas up the stairs and start working.*I also remembered that my aunt and uncle have trucks*

Steps:

1. Remove canvas material from frame (this is optional)
2. Lay shower curtain face down and center the frame
3. Pull the curtain tight and staple each pull
4. Cut left over material using your cutter
5. Add saw teeth hangers to the back (I used two)
6. Pick a wall and hang your master piece.
Tips:
Steam your shower curtain to remove the folds. I steamed my after because I was working in a small space and needed a center reference.
If you don’t like it keep trying. Try and try again. No one woke up being perfect and sometimes imperfections are perfections.
Don’t buy the canvas full price always use a coupon or wait for a sale.
If you are really feeling experimental head to your local hardware store and have them cut it to the dimensions you desire.
Most importantly HAVE FUN!
XOXO

Have you ever scrolled through social media and on your time line appears advertisements from companies you’ve never heard of and they have an amazing subscription box that celebs are advertising or maybe an item caught your eye? Well, that's what happened to me with Izzy and Liv!
First, I will just share a bit of information about this company that I’ve come to know via the site: 1. it’s a small African American owned company based out of New Jersey who’s owner,Nicole Brown, is a mother of four and she decided to name her company after her two daughters Isabel (Izzy) and Olivia (Liv) because she wanted to see more images that look like her and wanted to give her girls that same positive reinforcement. That’s a great reason to start a company!
2. Each subscription box comes with a T-shirt or tank along with four to five other full size items. There’s also a little magazine that describes the items, the value of each item, and articles that are informative and enjoyable to read.
3. ALL ITEMS ARE USABLE! The items are nice and useable and if you don’t like them they are great as gifts.
4. The cost of a subscription is $39.95 plus shipping. I will include a discount code for $5.00 off below. The value of the box is worth more; February box is worth $109; so you really can’t beat the price.
So, after viewing the site I became a bit curious as to what really came in the box especially since slots opened for the January box. I was all in! Sadly, I didn’t receive the January box because they ran out. I don’t foresee this being an issue with future boxes; I believe it was just an error in printing and hopefully it will be smooth sailings from here. I’m keeping positive because I think the items are cute and if I can’t use them I’m sure I can regift them. BUT to ease your mind be prepared to get the month after; so if you order in February and there is no waitlist expect to receive the April box and not March.
What was include in February’s box:
The magazine
Gold feather pin $10 value
Naturalicious Heavenly Hydration Grapeseed Oil Mist $14 value and coming to a local Sally’s Beauty Supply store.
Black History Flashcards $25 value (I’m pretty excited about these cards)
Satin bonnet (mine was zebra print) $18 value
Phenomenal Black Women Notebook $14 value
Black Girl Power shirt $28 value

Who is Rae Dunn? Why are her items such a hot commodity? These are the questions I’m currently asking myself after I passed on an entire canister set and cookie jar that I loved in Home Goods.
One Saturday afternoon in October while in North Carolina I went “window” shopping; during this time I put two mugs, “COFFEE” and “Imagine”, in my cart. As I turned the corner to the next aisle on an end cap was such a beautiful canister/tea set and a cookie jar that said “Letters to Santa” and I almost did cartwheels in the store from my excitement over this cookie jar. I was in love with the canister set and the mailbox cookie jar… Really in LOVE! Everyone that knows me know I LOOOOOVE Christmas and everything Christmas so in the cart they all went; but after adding all of these items in my cart I quickly did the calculations and put everything back in its place on the end cap keeping the two mugs and a creamer set that said “Naughty” and “Nice”. I would come back for them later. Or so I thought.
Each item is made of ceramic and each one seems to be unique because of its imperfections. No one piece is the same; you may find a dent at the lip of the mug or one near the handle of the same title mug but again no two are alike. They are of a clean design; one that can complete a farm house style or modern home design. Trust me, they are gorgeous!
Here’s why I left them: I’m trying to be extremely careful with my spending since I’m trying to get back on track with saving money after my wedding; but, if I would have known what I know today that would have been money very well spent. It’s something that I love the look of and I had no clue what the big deal was about. So, now I’m on the hunt for these unicorn pieces and what makes it so bad we just received a late wedding gift on 14 January and it is a Rae Dunn silverware holder. This is the one gift that has taken me on a mission to collect what could have…what should have..been mine in October 2017. So until I can find all of the pieces at one of my local stores I’m going to try hard to avoid sellers on the internet. Those prices are ridiculous and out of my price range! Are you a collector? What is your unicorn piece?
Happy Hunting,
